What 50 KB is good for

50 KB hits a sweet spot: enough data for a sharp passport photo, profile picture, avatar or email-signature image, while satisfying the upload caps on exam portals, job boards and legacy CMSs. A 600×600 headshot compresses to ~40 KB at good quality; a 800×600 photo fits at moderate quality.

The tool tries quality first — dimensions are only reduced if the image is genuinely too large to fit any other way, and each card shows the exact final size.

How it works

Three steps. About five seconds.

1

Drop any image

JPG, PNG, WebP or iPhone HEIC — one file or a batch. Nothing uploads; it all runs on your device.

2

We hit 50 KB automatically

PixSquash searches for the highest quality that fits the limit, resizing only if it must. No trial-and-error slider fiddling.

3

Download with proof

Each result shows its exact final size with a ✓ confirming it is under 50 KB. Grab everything as a ZIP.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

How do I reduce a photo to 50 KB?

Drop it above. The tool automatically searches quality settings (and resizes only if needed) until the file is under 50 KB, then shows a ✓ with the exact size.

Will a 50 KB photo still look good?

For profile photos and headshots under ~800 px, yes — usually indistinguishable. Large detailed photos will be resized down to fit, which is fine for screen use.

Can I compress iPhone HEIC photos to 50 KB directly?

Yes — HEIC is converted and compressed in one step, all in your browser.

Why JPG and not PNG for small file sizes?

PNG is lossless and cannot trade quality for size, so photos rarely fit tight KB limits as PNG. JPG (or WebP) reaches small sizes gracefully.
